Healthy cafe breathes vitality into a fast casual concept.
If you find yourself hungry in the land of shopping malls and strip centers in the Galleria / Uptown area, you now have a healthy oasis to retreat to among the fast food and chains. Enter H.S. Green, the latest addition to the neighborhood. Located on Richmond Avenue smack dab in between a Chik-Fil-A and a Chipotle, H.S. Green stands out as a fresh and healthy alternative in a space that’s actually been designed with thought and experience in mind.
In their own words, they offer “delicious, quality-sourced food in a relaxed and interactive setting,” but that hardly does it justice. The space itself is bright and airy with hues of earth tones, much of the surfaces covered in salvaged wood and bold green chairs.
The menu offerings really do not disappoint if you’re looking for something more thoughtful and healthier than fast food or a typical fast casual joint. The dine-in menu, which includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, offers well-executed dishes infused with distinct flavor profiles. Signature dishes include a crispy duck and watercress salad with chopped mango, truffle-infused roasted mushroom and chicken stone-fired pizza, Thai grilled shrimp wrap, and the chef’s binge-worthy ‘Guacamame’ (a combination of chunky guacamole laced with seasoned smashed edamame). Diners can also choose from a large selection of cold-pressed juices, smoothies, wine, beer and gourmet coffee.
